Who We Are
#AwakenTheNorth began in January, 2015 as a #hashtag on Twitter originally. The Norse Pagan community needed support, so Awaken the North sprang up on Twitter as an easy way for like-minded people to communicate with each other . As with all good things, from this small seed of a beginning, Awaken the North grew.
Due to some poor choices in leadership, the hashtag for #Awakenthenorth died off in late 2017. It was barely kept alive by a small handful of dedicated members, but was on the road to becoming an obsolete footnote in the annuls of history. In May of 2020, Goði Casey “Beast” Clark came on board to revive and revitalize Awaken The North, in an effort to return it to it’s former glory, and beyond! Unfortunately, due to multiple issues of dishonesty and proven lack of honour, the original founder who brought Goði Beast on was voted out by a unanimous vote from the Council, and was banned from Awaken the North. At that point, Goði Beast took the reigns, and has worked hard to build Awaken the North to be the organization that Heathens across the world want and need. Today, we are working on furthering the reach of AtN, with members from all across the globe. AwakentheNorth ahs become the providers of a safe haven for Heathens of ALL forms, regardless of sex, gender, gender identity, ability, nationality, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, race, faith or creed. Our main focus is on learning, growing, and deepening our walks with the Gods.
Today, Awaken The North is a diverse organization that not only builds and forms small communities but also offers help to those seeking specific guidance, from help finding kindreds in their area, to learning of the Old Ways, to growing in their walks of faith and knowledge of the Gods, and beyond.
Some of our accomplishments & milestones:
September 20, 2020, Awaken the Norths Membership Program went live, allowing those who wish to be full-fledged members to apply.
September 21, 2020, we unveiled our Awaken the North store. Exclusive AtN Officially licensed merchandise available to the masses
September 2020, Awaken the North opens individual rooms for various member groups while continually growing to best suit the needs of our members. Awaken the North creates safe places for individual groups of members to gather on Facebook and discuss related topics including BIPOC (Minority Groups), Regnbue Ætt (Rainbow Clan), Shield Maidens (Ladies Group), Maðr Hol (Mens Group), and Ulfednar (Military & First Responders).
October 2020, Goði Beast put out the paperback version of the Pocket Hávamál in Everyday English. This project sends free Hávamál’s to deployed military personnel across the globe.
October 2020, the Emissary Program starts as Awaken the North begins to focus on outreach and frith building in our communities.
October 2020, The Heathen Parenting channel starts in AtN Discord server, where parents can share challenges, hopes and dreams as a parent of mini heathens.
November 2020, we released our Pocket Alter Project. Every Pocket Alter purchased goes to fund a free one for our active duty deployed members.
November 2020, Awaken the North sends out it’s first wave of FREE Yule cards to the troops.
January 2021, Awaken the North starts with Patreon, giving our members a chance to help support their community and benefit from the various levels of support.
January 15, 2021, Awaken the North posts their first TikTok content which will grow into a multi-participatory project for all of AtN.
January 26, 2021, Awaken the North publicly declares that we do not support the actions taken at the Capitols of Georgia, Kansas or D.C. and we specifically do not endorse or support Jake Angeli or any of his actions.
February 2021, AtN creates a channel in Discord titled #Council-of-elders to allow our members to communicate with our Council of Elders better, for advice and ministry.
June 4, 2021, our first ever Awaken the North Loot Box goes our to our “royalty” level Patreons. This box includes samples from our merchants and the Blot-in-a box.
July 9, 2021, The Awaken the North Newsletter, Odin’s Auga is revitalized by the onset of a new Editor in Chief.
September 11, 2021 Awaken the North plans and funds an emergency extraction of a member, relocating them across country to escape an abusive relationship.
September 26, 2021, Awaken the North Proudly opens “BIPOC” as a safe place for our Indigenous and people of color to gather and share information on their path in heathenry.
September 30, 2021, Awaken the North opens a new Chancellor position which is a voting seat on the council, Chancellor of Regnbue Ætt.
October 24, 2021, Awaken the North is granted Official 501C status.
January 25, 2022, Awaken the North’s Emissary training program starts with an online training course and a new Chancellor.
February 2022, By-laws are updated and presented to members for comments. Changes included grammar, voting privileges for new chancellors added Regnbue Aett and Bipoc. An annual review of all council members and updated the language around identity to be more inclusive.
April 3, 2022, The new and improved Website is quickly taking shape and the member portal is live allowing new members to apply and old members to update their information. Great things to come.
April 14, 2022, Awaken the North creates a safe place in our discord server for our non-Binary members to gather and share like minded discussions.
May 2022, Awaken the North institutes background checks for all council, chairs, and emissaries to further protect all of the members of Awaken the North.
June 20, 2022, Declaration of Human Rights written by Goði Beast.
July 19, 2022, one month after the Declaration of Human Rights goes public it reaches 100 signatures.
July 2022, Sent 20 Hávamál’s to US Army Garriosin Camp Humphreys, South Korea.
July 2022, Awaken the North goes live with Chancellor 360 Review Forms. Members can anonymously thank or critique any member of the council in hopes to better serve our community.
November 14, 2022 – Heathen Scouting modules go live for Cub Scouts and ScoutsBSA!
December 27, 2022 AtN sends $200 to a member in need to assist with emergency home repairs.
February 28, 2023 – AtN pays for a members prescriptions for life saving medicine.
March 6, 2023 – Awaken the North signs it’s first ScoutsBSA Troop as the Charter Organization!
March 27, 2023 – Awake the North adopts it’s first section of highway for cleanup in Rochester, Minnesota. It can be found at I-90, milepost 230-232

How can I help support Awaken the North?
Awaken the North is a family and we are dedicated to helping each other grow. The only way we are able to accomplish this is through the generous financial support of our members. Every single one of our Council, Chairs, and support staff are purely VOLUNTEERS. Not a single person benefits financially from any funds within Awaken the North. Even Beast, the Leader, doesn’t get a dime. All funds are directed back into Awaken the North to pay for the website, buy supplies, help support our members, etc.
