HIV Cure Research Day

HIV Cure Research Day is celebrated annually on December 14th to raise awareness about the search for an HIV cure… and to honor the efforts of those working to find one. The day also marks the anniversary of the founding of the 2BeatHIV research project at UNC Chapel Hill. Dr. Allison Mathews, the founder and director of the 2BeatHIV project, co-founded HIV Cure Research Day.
HIV Cure Research Day raises awareness about:
1. The current medicines available for people with HIV
2. How to prevent HIV infection
3. The need for a complete cure for HIV
Some say that while a cure that is easy to administer, affordable, and widely available is still some distance away, researchers are learning from each case and are curing some people, some of the time.
