Nauthiz
(now-theez)
Nauthiz signifies hardship in the form of ones needs not being met. you may be experiencing hardship that is limiting your forward progress and growth.
the necessity of learning to deal with the severe constraint is the lesson here. We are being faced with obstacles we create for ourselves as well as those we encounter in the world around us.
The role of Nauthiz is to identify our shadow, our dark or repressed side, places where growth has been stunted., resulting in weaknesses that are often projected onto others.
Work with the shadow, examine what it is in your nature that attracts this hardship. The setbacks are truly your teachers, guides and even allies. The need for restraint is unquestionable. Drawing this rune indicates that there may well be holdups and reasons to reconsider your plans carefully restoring yourself and your surroundings to harmony and balance is the goal
This rune can also be warning you to avoid Greed and unhealthy desire. if you have been focusing too heavily on the material world this is a sign to go within and tend to your spiritual development.
Nauthiz is good for protection, maintaining equanimity, and magical workings focused on the increase.
Magically good for protection, activates magical workings focused on attraction or increase.
Nauthiz is also the second rune of the norns belonging to Verandi, the present. Nauthiz is another rune in the Elder Futhark that doesn’t have many rosy or cheery connotations. As with Hagalaz and Isa, Nauthiz speaks of frustration and hardship. The appearance of Nauthiz in a reading means that you are most likely constrained, or about to be,by a situation or person. This means you’ll find yourself, if you haven’t already, in a place where it’s difficult to maneuver to peace. Suffering is an inherent part of Nauthiz. Nauthiz means need, repression, and pain. This rune represents the maturation of ideas and intentions or, of birth, expectation, and destiny, which bears fruit as long as you have patience.
Nauthiz is the metaphor of one who carries an uncomfortable and heavy burden. It also evokes a sense of endurance—although it is known that it is wrong—and gives the strength to accept suffering willingly, making it productive as far as possible, even if the hope that better times will come is very low. Many times, we want to achieve a goal (to be strong, or to find our way in life) and yet have the wrong idea of this goal. Nauthiz recommends experiencing weakness to learn what it means to be strong, or “getting lost” to find out what the real path is.
