This week we are Spotlighting our Chancellor of Religious Studies

Let’s take some time and meet Casey “Godi Beast” Clark!

~ Five fun facts about Godi Beast ~

1.  I love woodworking! Sitting at the lathe is very relaxing for me. The art of creating is one of my passions.

2. I have four children (3 bonus children and 1 biological) who keep me hopping all the time! We are all involved in Scouting, and always running.

3. I am an avid cook! Just look at the size of my belly, it doesn’t lie. I LOVE to make home cooked meals, and with feeding a family of 6, I do it every day. Eating out is a splurge, as it normally runs us $100 to go out to eat…so, we eat at home. As my wife is a vegetableranian, I cook two pots of whichever…one with meat, and one without! I even have a recipe blog that we have ignored for far too long, https://beautyandthebeastskitchen.blogspot.com/

4.  I am 6’4. I am told this is an interesting fact about me. I am commonly referred to as the Jotunn…lol

5. I have lived in or traveled through: all 48 continental United States. British Columbia, and Ontario Canada. Mexico. Guatemala. Germany. Spain. England. I would love to go to Iceland, Scotland, and Tibet.

~ Godi Beast what brought you to Awaken the North ~

I have been involved in one way or another with a few different Heathen organizations in my years. I was approached in February of 2020 by one of the original founders of Awaken the North (the only one left) and asked to come on-board and help him revitalize the group. At the time, it was simply a hashtag on Twitter. I worked on recruiting some awesome people to fill the rolls of a working Council. In May of 2020, I took the reins of Awaken the North from the original founder, after he proved himself unfit for the duty, and we began taking Awaken the North from just a hashtag on Twitter to the international non-profit it is today.

~ How did you become the Chancellor of Religious Studies ~

I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, is what I generally tell folks! I am the leader of Awaken the North for the simple reason that I had the passion and time to dedicate to make it into the dream organization I know it can be. We have hit a few bumps in the road to be sure, but we keep going, which is important. As for why me? I ask myself that quite often. I am not specially trained in any remarkable way or blessed with insane intelligence as some of the other Chancellors are. What I *AM* good at doing, however, is spotting talent in others. I have compiled an amazing Council of talented people from all walks of life to lead AtN into the future.

~ What do you plan to bring to the members of Awaken the North~

The plans that we have for the future are AMAZING, if I do say so myself. There are many different publications in the works, including an ACTUAL study Havamal (not just two translations side by side and some blank lines), a few new “In Everyday English” series books such as the Voluspa, and much more that has yet to become reality. The main thing I am focused on right now, is the Godar Training Course. (Coming soon)
