It’s National Coming Out Day! A day when Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Nonbinary people celebrate coming out and living their truth.
For some, coming out is a joyous occasion. A day when they can finally be their true selves and be accepted for who they are.
For others, it’s a day filled with anxiety and fear. A day when they worry about being rejected by their friends and family.
But no matter how you feel about it, National Coming Out Day is an important day. It’s a day when we can all celebrate the diversity of the LGBT community. It’s a day when we can all stand together and say, “This is who I am.”
National Coming Out Day is celebrated every year on October 11th. The day is observed to promote the self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people.
This year, we’re celebrating National Coming Out Day with a sense of humor and a light heart. There are lots of reasons why people choose to come out of the closet. Maybe you’re tired of hiding who you are. Maybe you want to be genuine with your friends and family. Or maybe you’re just sick of pretending to be someone you’re not.
Whatever your reason, there’s one thing we can all agree on: coming out is a really big deal. It’s a scary and daunting experience, but it can also be incredibly liberating. So if you’re thinking about coming out, we say go for it! Here are a few reasons why it might just be the best decision you ever make.
National Coming Out Day is celebrated annually on October 11th. The date was chosen to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the 1987 March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. The first National Coming Out Day was celebrated in 1988 and was organized by Rob Eichberg and Jean O’Leary.
Since its inception, National Coming Out Day has become an important day for many people who are LGBT+ as it is a day to celebrate coming out and living openly and authentically. It is also a day to educate others about the LGBT+ community and to raise awareness about the importance of equal rights for all.
So whether you are out or still in the closet, we hope you will celebrate National Coming Out Day with us!
