“Mediate often on the interconnectedness and mutual interdependence of all things in the universe. For in a sense, all things are mutually woven together and therefore have an affinity for each other – for one thing follows after another according to their tension of movement, their sympathetic stirrings, and the unity of all substance.” – Marcus Aurelius, Mediations, 6.38
I think this quote from one of the most famous Stoic thinkers fits in well with our honoring of Tyr. His sacrifice for the greater good is about the interconnection and interdependence between everything and everyone. Sometimes in our modern interconnectedness we can feel a little too connected to some areas (people we don’t want to be connected to, perhaps) thanks to social media. When that feeling of being overly connected swells up, maybe try to get offline – close that connection for a minute – and go find the connection with the rest of the things. I think that would honor Tyr. What do you think?
