This week we are Spotlighting our Chancellor of Public Affairs.

Let’s take some time and meet Calista Horvath!

~ Five fun facts about Calista ~

1.  I have worn many hats over the years, including: Radio DJ, Plant Nursery Attendant, Tour Guide, and Structural Drafter. I am currently a cook.

2.   I tell people the scar on my eyebrow came from fighting a bear. In reality, I fell off the bed when I was 7. 3.   I like to collect old things. The more haunted the better. I hope to one day have my own little curio shop full of random haunted things.

4.  I like to role play in video games and tabletops. Like, a LOT. It’s almost a problem. I’m not working on it.

5.   I have a variety of hobbies, but my favorite is ignoring all of them for a new obsession.

~ Calista what brought you to Awaken the North ~

I came to Heathenry about 10 years ago now, after moving out on my own and delving into what I actually believed. I knew it was the path for me, but unfortunately, at the time, every group and community of heathens I ran across was…problematic to some degree, and that never sat well with me. I’d just about given up on finding a family when I stumbled across a video of Casey making an announcement. I asked an acquaintance of mine who had been involved with AtN for a while for more information, and after about an hour of reading, I submitted my membership application. Best decision I’ve made since deciding to say yes to Ray.

~ How did you become the Chancellor of Public Affairs ~

Well, ha-ha. I hadn’t been in the organization long when Casey and Galaxy approached me about taking over the newsletter, Odin’s Auga. I was like sure, I like designing things and such, so I jumped on that. I hadn’t been in charge of that for long at all when I was approached and asked if I had any PR experience. I used to run PR for an organization in Memphis so I had a little experience, which I relayed to Beast and Galaxy, and then suddenly I was Chancellor! I’m very grateful for the opportunity. Awaken the North means a great deal to me and if I can do even a small bit to show the world why, I’m happy.

~ What do you plan to bring to the members of Awaken the North~

My dazzling smile and winning personality, of course. No, in all seriousness, I want to continue to provide the members with all the information they need to stay on top of goings on, in a nutshell. It also falls to me and my team to spread the word over social media and get people involved across the board, as well as provide a bit of guidance where our public image is concerned. Making sure that Awaken the North is well represented in the world and that the members are informed and aware that their contributions matter and are appreciated is my number one priority.
