Happy Saturday friends! Only two more work days until I can get out of dodge for a couple days with the wife. Iâm so looking forward to getting away, and just as excited for vacation time next month. Anyway, todays pull is Bjarkan. Do the Gods mess with me again? It seems so as I finished an article regarding Frigg for our upcoming newsletter. Everywhere I turn, there she is, and itâs a beautiful thing!
á björk/bjarkan/bjarken (“birch”) means “birch tree”. The rune of the Goddess and birth.
Sound: âbâ, âpâ, âvâ, âmbâ, âmpâ
Meaning: The birch twig represents rebirth and purification as does the rune Bjarkan. It is also a womanâs rune symbolizing gestation and birth.
Norwegian rune poem **
á Bjarkan er laufgrønstr lÃma;
Loki bar flærða tÃma.
Translation **
á Birch has the greenest leaves of any shrub;
Loki was fortunate in his deceit.
