Daily Rune – Kaun

Good Woten’s day friends! As I prepare for my last two days at work and and busy packing away I reflect on todays rune. Kaun, of the younger futhark. The more time I spend with the younger, the more attached I become to them. Here, it’s just as it states below. Insight gained from an illness, wound, or suffering of any kind. Whether that be physical or mental matters not, as long as we grow with the knowledge we’ve gained from going through it all. There’s a sense of peace here, even though it sounds terrible, we must find the good in, or at least learn from our suffering.

áš´ Kaun (“ulcer”). Wisdom through suffering.

Sound: “k”, “g”Meaning: Although this rune stands for a wound, we must understand that it is through the suffering of such a wound that we gain new insight. This rune represents just that, the new insight that we gain from an illness or wound.

Norwegian rune poem **ᚴ Kaun er barna bǫlvan;bǫl gørver nán fǫlvan.

Translation **áš´ KaunAn ulcer is fatal to children;death makes a corpse pale.
