Good Wotenâs day. Todays rune is Thorn of the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc. After yesterday, and so far this morning, it points straight at frustration. Iâm not sure itâs source but I do hope it dissipates very quickly. So much for my mini-staycation.
ᦠþorn â Thorn rune means “the god Thor, giant”. The rune of brute force and dangerous opposites. It is the rune of extreme change, sometimes violently. It also means conflict, which can be a source of frustration or anguish.
Anglo-Saxon rune poem **
ᦠÃorn byþ ðearle scearp; ðegna gehwylcum
anfeng ys yfyl, ungemetum reþe
manna gehwelcum, ðe him mid resteð.
Translation **
Thorn
The thorn is exceedingly sharp,
an evil thing for any knight to touch,
uncommonly severe on all who sit among them.
