Daily Rune – Thurs

Good Sunna’s day! Todays rune is Thurs. After yesterdays pull, I took the day to reflect. On life, on death, and on a great many things. If my eyes are open an I’m not occupied with good work then my mind is racing, constantly, incessantly. We have strength here. Of course we do, but sometimes strength is taking a step back, taking a breath, and resetting. It’s OK to do this every so often. It is not in weakness. We grieve, we go through things in life where….we just need a moment. Today is that moment, and it is in strength, and to regain strength that I do so. In my silence I grow, never mistake that for weakness.

 Thurs (“giant”) rune means “the god Thor, giant”. The rune of brute force.

Sound: “th”, “dh”, “eth”

Meaning: Like the giant, Thurs contains a lot of power and strength. It was often used in bindrune or magic staves to bring extra power to the staves or bindrune.

Norwegian rune poem **

ᚦ Þurs vældr kvinna kvillu;

kátr værðr fár af illu.

Translation **

ᚦ Thurs

Giant causes anguish to women;

misfortune makes few men cheerful.
