Daily Rune – Thurs

Good Thor’s day friends! Todays pull is…of course…it’s Thurs, why wouldn’t it be? Like Thor this rune represents strength and power, I wear one in it’s elder form on a hand forged hammer around my neck sometimes. One must be cautious with the strength in this symbol. As stated below, it’s often used in binds and staves to strengthen them, but by itself, it’s power can be overwhelming.

 Thurs (“giant”) rune means “the god Thor, giant”. The rune of brute force.

Sound: “th”, “dh”

Meaning: Like the giant, Thurs contains a lot of power and strength. It was often used in bindrunes or magic staves to bring extra power to the staves or bindrune.

Norwegian rune poem **

ᚦ Þurs vældr kvinna kvillu;

kátr værðr fár af illu.

Translation **

ᚦ Thurs

Giant causes anguish to women;

misfortune makes few men cheerful.
