Good Saturday, friends! Todays rune is Úr of the younger futhark. Here, I feel danger. Be wary. I don’t feel like this is a life-threatening situation, rather a “dude…what just happened?” moment. The kind of thing that makes you think twice about whatever the situation is. Take restock and reevaluate your priorities. This can be a good lesson.
ᚢ úr (“iron”/ “rain”) sudden danger or blessings.
Sound: “u”, “o”, “y”, “w”
Meaning: Represents how some things can develop from nothingness. Like the fertile soil that can be created from volcanic ash, which in turn with a slight amount of water and sunlight can spawn growth.
Norwegian rune poem **
ᚢ Úr er af illu jarne;
opt løypr ræinn á hjarne.
Translation **
ᚢ Ur
Dross comes from bad iron;
the reindeer often races over the frozen snow.
