Hello dear friends! Today’s pull is Othala. I was beginning to wonder when you’d show up! Anyway, what strikes me today is something I’ve been thinking a lot of lately. Honoring my ancestors, I feel pulled to do more. I mention them in my daily prayers and meditations, and offerings during blót but I don’t feel like it’s enough. I don’t have a place on my physical altar for them, I suppose that’s next. How do you honor the ancestors and what does Othala speak to you today?

RUNIC INSPIRATION: Blood ties, however problematic or intolerable are still important and implicate us for all our lives. It is essential to recognize their value and realize that we are the result of our past and we must start from our roots to develop our heritage that is rich and plentiful. Drawing Othala may indicate that an aspect of your current situation is related to your background-perhaps unconscious beliefs you absorbed as a child or some other element that shaped your upbringing. Othala may be advising you to learn from your extended family or to lean on them for emotional or material support regarding a challenging matter. Or to check on your people back home.
POWER OF THE RUNE: Othala anchors us to our identity and reinforces blood ties and bestows well-being. As followers of the ancient Gods this can also be referring to the traditions of the beliefs in these Gods and the practices of our religion.
