The History of the Chancellor of the Treasury (CotT)
The position of Treasurer is a very important position. This position is a core position in any organization. So how do we define treasurer? A Treasurer is a person appointed to administer or manage the financial assets and liabilities of a said entity. This is also one of the board positions required to create a 501 (c)(3).
Since Beast started as the leader of Awaken the North the Treasurer has been Russ Ferguson.
So why did Russ step up for such an important position?
When asked he said, “I wanted to see AtN continue to grow & become a 501 (c)(3). Someone needed to be a Treasurer, so I volunteered.”
So, what does the Treasurer actually do?
“HBIC – Head Bookkeeper in Charge. Sorry, could not resist.” Russ replies 😉
The function of the treasurer is to tend to the financials keeping logs updated. Keeping up with the yearly taxes and monthly reports and filings. Fundraising and AtN Merchandise are also on the plate of the Treasurer.
For reasons of personal growth, Russ will be taking this chancellorship and making it a silent seat. As we all support everyone’s personal path, we are excited to support Russ in these healthy changes. He has agreed to continue to do the amazing work he does keeping AtN on track financially and legally.
Since starting the position Russ has assisted AtN in getting our 501 (c)(3) status, filled out plenty of government forms, and kept the numbers properly crunched. The Head Bookkeeper in Charge has always been more behind the scenes, but has always kept us afloat!
What’s next for this area of AtN? Fundraisers and more store items of course!
